A nature walk anyone?
We hope your week and days are filled with sunshine and joy so far during this very intense summer of 2022! In so many parts of the world the weather is heating up and temperature records are being set so we encourage you all to stay hydrated, use sunscreen when necessary, and dress appropriately for your days in the sunshine.
We all love to get out during the summer and some of us love to take walks. Wherever you are in the world, why not take a stroll in a park or your urban neighbourhood on a great weather day or evening?
Our team appreciates those tranquil moments when we get to head into the woods or take a stroll on a nature trail and just being back outdoors without a mask really can make the summer days feel especially wonderful this year.
That amazing and blissful sounds of a running brook and stream can always bring to us feelings of relaxation, just don’t forget to protect your body with insect repellent and sunscreen. Where there is running water there are likely to be lots of insects, and some of them may bite, so be wise in your choosing your outdoor attire!
We have a few team members who love to fish and they told us that any avid fisherman or woman will know that as the sun begins to set the mosquitoes will start to come out, so know your terrain and the times of day that may pose risk or challenges to you.
We advise that you prepare a small outdoors or backpack to keep essential products like a snack, bottles of water and whatever you think will serve you on your next great adventure!
We asked our team what’s in their backpacks when they head into the woods on a nature stroll and this is what we were told.
“A hunting knife, water, cookies, protein/cereal bars, Deet-based repellent, my phone, a compass, Gatorade, my digital camera, a garbage bag, bungee cords, a rain covering, my baseball cap, bear spray, my fishing rod, and bait box, a tarp, a picnic basket with snacks, my mini cooler, an extra change of clothes, my bathing suit, water shoes, a hand ax, my iPod, sunglasses, Lysol wipes, alcohol sanitizer, toilet paper, my iWatch, a portable cooler with wheels, a flashlight, a whistle, a brightly colored orange vest, my water bottle, a map or picture of the park or place I am going into that I don’t know well.”
These suggestions made us smile when we asked and we hope that they help you in having a great day outdoors and in nature whenever and wherever you can do so!
