Can prophetic medicine be real?
Prophetic Medicine? What’s that?
In the early days of Islam prophet Muhammad (saw) gave humanity this advice in authentic hadith.
“Allah (swt) did not send a disease without having sent down its cure.”
Referring to Nigela Sativa or the black seed Prophet Muhammad (Saw) said,
“Use this seed regularly! Because it is a remedy (cure) for every disease except death.”
The Quran mentions several types of foods and the benefits of eating of them. We have found that when we looked at the benefits of the foods mentioned in the Quran, according to several modern-day scientists, nutritionists, and medical doctors that there is a vast array of healthy goodness that can be found in these simple foods which are available and convenient to obtain for many of us around the world.
Some of the food mentioned to be of benefit and that is in Quran and Authentic hadith include Olives, Onions, Cucumbers, Gourd, Mustard seed, Beans, Lentil, Garlic, Dates, Grapes, Pomegranate, Banana, Fig, Water, Milk, Honey.
Muslims will put their trust in God as to any benefit derived from all nutrition that is consumed which is permissible to do so. The choices of what is considered to consume that are permissible are quite clear based on hadith, however, many Muslims will also follow additional jurisprudence principles which are often based on geographic location and scholarly recommendation.
So often we do not take time to be grateful for our meals and the ability to have food. For many around the world, it is not so easy and it seems that eating for us all is becoming more costly around the world with many shortages of items based on extreme climate events this past year.
Whatever your choices of meals are we encourage you to have simple and healthy options and next time you think that there isn’t anything good in the fridge or pantry, remember that basic staples (for most of us) we’ve mentioned here are just some of the foods that are specifically mentioned that we’ve found in hadith and Quran during the creation of the Madani Chronicles!
Bismillah and Bon Appetite!
