Eid Al-Adha 2021
Eid Mubarak!
One year ago, we were in lockdown, and Eid services and prayers were not available to so many around the world. This year we are still facing challenges with in-person congregational limits imposed for religious institutions and we hope that wherever you reside your Eid prayers are accepted and you have a very wonderful Eid Al-Adha!
Eid Al-Adha is known as the ‘Big Eid’ as the Eid celebration and festivities lasts for 3 days. The hearts and minds of all Muslims are with those on the Hajj pilgrimage and Muslims will fast on this day of Arafah seeking massive reward. Those on the Hajj pilgrimage will not fast but they will be praying and making du’a and supplications to Allah (swt) from Sunrise to Sunset and when the sun goes down, they will continue on with the ritual acts of having their animals slaughtered for them and the ritualistic act of the throwing pebble/small stones at the 3 pillars of the Jamarat area which is a tribute to the Prophet Abraham (AS) and the trials that he encountered in the region during his time.
This year is the first time since the in inception of Islam that Haji’s will not be participating from outside of Saudi Arabia. Only 60,000 residents of Saudi Arabia will be allowed to perform this year’s Hajj Pilgrimage as the country has shut its borders due to Covid Pandemic restrictions.
We hope that all Muslims who wish to participate in this incredible life-changing experience and journey will be allowed to do so next year and in years to come, so we certainly hope that you have not lost hope in your ability to attend Hajj if your intention is to one day become a Haji!
With the world in a state of perpetual vaccination and some restrictions beginning to be lifted for us all, we know that it has been a very difficult situation across the world for people of all faiths and we simply send you a virtual high 5 and an incredibly positive vibe your way!
We truly hope that this Eid Al-Adha 2021 is a peaceful time for you to be able to create some cherished memories and moments with your family, friends, and neighbours, and we sincerely hope that you are able to share in the act of giving gifts and tokens of affection to your loved ones.
