Summer Solstice
It’s officially summer in the west and we couldn’t have wanted it sooner!
As Fathers around the world are celebrated this week, Muslims look to the guidance and wisdom from Prophet Muhammad (saw) as a father figure and leader.
Many of the Sahabah left clues for us recorded in the books of hadith as to what prophet Muhammad (saw) was like as a father and we should aspire to be the best of parents if we are blessed to have children.
With summer here, we asked Beyond Badr creator Kelvin Ali about his father,”My father has passed away and it was his initial requests and pleas coupled with global events that led me to seek Islam. After reading about the life of prophet Muhammad (saw) I can say that my dad dropped the ball several times in his effort at fatherhood, but I always knew his love was undying and I wish light for him in his grave. When the Sahabah made statements like, ?I would sacrifice my parents for you? about each other, it was a symbolic statement of the bond of brotherhood that was unbreakable for the early Muslims. Studying seerah not only made me appreciate Prophet Muhammad (saw), it made my appreciate both of my parents more especially now that they have both passed on. I was blessed to have a father, Prophet Muhammad (saw) was an orphan, so he must have had an unbreakable bond with his children and inexplicable love for his children as most parents do.”
