April Fool’s Day
Pranking probably was not done within these walls.
There is nothing foolish about any day in the life of a Sahabah! What was it like for those closest to Prophet Muhammad (saw)
Did the Sahabah prank people? Would you like to find out in our future releases? Stay tuned! Some of them did like to have fun.
Pranking often involves deceit in the name of humour, joy, entertainment, at another’s expense. Pranking the wrong person at the wrong time can also lead to serious injury so have fun, but be safe! We’ve all seen horrible images of a prank gone bad and laughing at the faults or mishaps of others is not something that prophet Muhammad (saw) liked as told within the Hadith of Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (RA).
Prophet Muhammad (saw) once asked a companion Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA) to climb a tree and bring him something from it. Some of his companions looked at Abdullah’s thighs and laughed at their thinness. The Messenger of Allah (swt), may Allah (swt) bless him and grant him peace, said, “Why are you laughing? Abdullah’s foot is heavier in the balance than the mountain of Uhud on the scales on the Day of Resurrection!”, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 237 (Book 11).
We love a good laugh as anyone so think about the feelings of the ones you wish to prank. If it would cause you pain or anguish, maybe you shouldn’t proceed!
