In early June 2020, Northern World Entertainment Software Inc. (NWES) released a graphic comic production entitled the Madani Chronicles. This is a new format and way to use current digital and technological advances to bring the History of Islam to a mainstream and western English audience. In Islamic terminology we call this the Seerah or a biography of the time and history and this period of Islamic History focuses on the final 8 years of the life and struggles of prophet Muhammad (saw).
NWES founder, President and author of the Madani Chronicles Kelvin Ali, is a revert to Islam who has spent the past 20 years learning and studying Islamic Arts and Sciences from scholars of all disciplines in these areas as well secular and western educational pursuits which includes a post-graduate with honours in digital design.
Kelvin reflects on why this product was created. “Becoming a revert when it was not a particularly popular thing to do, post 9/11, brought me years of struggle, years of worldly loss in the pursuit of knowledge. As I learned from scholars as often as I could as the world transformed, I noticed the spread of Islamophobia to the point where the current state of many of the world’s leadership are creating messages which to me resemble fascist rhetoric. I am hoping that this transmedia product offering will bring an understanding to both eastern and western audiences of a clearer perspective to Islam as we see an increase in a Muslim presence in traditionally non-Muslim lands. The globalization of humanity and the aftermath of human war has brought about the need to accept and understand each other more than ever. I believe that only through a willingness to understand can we begin to accept and respect each other as one humanity. I am hoping the comics and future developments will give an appreciation to this wonderful period of history from all aspects and I am hoping all youth can be inspired by the actions and wisdom of prophetic knowledge of a traceable Abrahamic lineage.
