We all love the sunshine and with it comes an opportunity to plant and grow some beautiful flowers\u00a0and\u00a0vegetables.\u00a0The blossoms of cheery and maple trees have begun to bloom in eastern Ontario\u00a0where some of our team reside and it is at\u00a0this time of year\u00a0that\u00a0many of us\u00a0begin to plant seeds, sow soil, or just set up a small balcony floral arrangement. During these months we spend a few moments during our downtime to connect to nature and set up our summertime flowers and vegetable\u00a0experiments\u00a0with our\u00a0respective\u00a0environments.\u00a0<\/p>
A new plant\u00a0or a bouquet of\u00a0flowers\u00a0can\u00a0bring a smile to anyone\u2019s day\u00a0and many of us just participated in giving flowers to our Mother this past mother\u2019s day. As we were grateful to our mothers\u00a0for their\u00a0sacrifices,\u00a0we will spend some of our time tending to our plants and flowers with great care as well.\u00a0<\/p>
We asked\u00a0members of the Beyond Badr dev team what they are planting\u00a0in their gardens\u00a0this year and this is what we were told.\u00a0<\/p>
\u201cTomatoes, Swiss Chard, Orchids, Corn, Perennials, Cilantro, Mint, Basil, Carrots, Broccoli, Spinach, Potatoes, Pumpkin\/Squash,\u00a0Placing\u00a0Floral Arrangements,\u00a0Spinach, Strawberries, Black Berries, Raspberries, Thyme, Chives, Garlic, Citronella, Marigold, Fig Tree, Blueberries, Roses, Chili Peppers, Hot Peppers, Stevia, Tulip planting at the end of the year, Watermelon, Pumpkin, a pine tree, Green Beans, Snow Peas, Parsnips, Beets, whatever is on sale at the garden center, getting a cactus.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>
Many of our team members enjoy the summer weather by dabbling in the soil inside and outside of\u00a0their dwellings\u00a0as we love our air and our plants and we try to keep our\u00a0thumbs\u00a0and planet green!\u00a0Spending a few moments in the garden or tending to some plants can make our space and our rooms feel more tranquil and we\u2019re fortunate to have a few months of good weather and environment to spend more time outdoors.\u00a0<\/p>
Our dev team also shared some of their own tips for making a small or large green space:<\/p>
\u2018Till your soil! Use the right soil or manure mixture for whatever you are growing.\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Read the seed package instructions for best use of your seeds!\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Don\u2019t over water your plants!\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Transplant your plants to bigger pots when the roots saturate the soil of your planters\u2019 pots.\u2019\u00a0\u2018Keep some foliage that is known to deter insects! Be patient!\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Don\u2019t plant too many things, it\u2019s a lot of work!\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Have fun and make some designs with colours and shapes.\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Use your environment\u00a0to grow\u00a0things\u00a0within the conditions you have.\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Be good to your plants and they will be good to you!\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Keep bird feeders away from your vegetables, you will attract unwanted critters\u00a0who will make\u00a0a\u00a0mess<\/p>
\u2018Plant your seeds according to the month and time of sunlight needed\/recommended, they will last longer!\u2019\u00a0<\/p>
\u2018Use sheep manure in your soil for vegetables and corn!\u2019\u00a0<\/p>
\u2018I use your aquarium water (to be changed) for\u00a0outdoor\u00a0plants\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Place plants around your rooms or space, they can be calming to have and you can be subtle or vibrant with colours\u2019\u00a0<\/p>
\u2018Sometimes after a few weeks into the spring plants and vegetables\u00a0can be purchased\u00a0that are just very underwatered. These can make great additions to your outdoor gardens with some care and you can save a lot of money as well for a pre-made seedling that looks distressed.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>
\u2018Don\u2019t water your plants mid-day or when it\u2019s too hot, early morning or late evening is best outdoors\u2019<\/p>
\u2018Use seeds from your old or decomposing vegetables in your fridge. These can be\u00a0grown in\u00a0your gardens. Peppers seeds sprout well when they are old\/dry.\u2019<\/p>
We hope\u00a0that wherever you live,\u00a0your Spring planting leads to a\u00a0very\u00a0colorful and bright summer with\u00a0a\u00a0great harvest\u00a0of your\u00a0crop, whatever you can plant, and\u00a0whatever space you have to work with, watching a seedling grow is a wonderful thing!\u00a0<\/p>
